WoodWing Enterprise in use at Shelbyville Times Gazette.It was the versatile nature of WoodWing Enterprise that sealed the deal for the Shelbyville Times-Gazette a daily newspaper in Tennessee that recently became one of the newest members of the WoodWing family.
“I had to work very closely with the WoodWing installers to set up the workflow management software the way we need it to work for us ” said Times-Gazette Editor John Philleo. “One of the benefits of this new program is that it’s very customizable.”
The Times-Gazette is a 7 300-circulation daily that’s part of the Rust Communications chain. It’s located in Shelbyville a small town just south of Nashville in central Tennessee.
One of the challenges that came with the Enterprise installation at the Times-Gazette was making the switch from Quark XPress to Adobe InDesign. Philleo said his staff was more than up to the task. “It’s been a big change for them and they have done awesome ” he said. “We’re all really proud of them.”
As for why his newspaper decided to make the switch to WoodWing Philleo said it boiled down to one thing: Preparing the publication — which also features a very lively Web site — to be successful now and well into the future.
“In the newsroom our computers were at least 10 years old and the reporters had to wait and wait and wait for e-mails ” Philleo said. “We got this software and new equipment to set this newspaper up for the future so that we would have all the right equipment to help us gather and report the news to inform educate and entertain our readers for the next decade.”
