Light & Champion in Center Texas purchased NewsXtreme LITE and Altoona Mirror purchased Xtreme Inking.
As part of their GOSS Press control upgrade project Altoona Mirror purchased Presteligence’s ink presetting solution. Xtreme Inking’s integration to Goss Press Control Systems will allow Altoona to calculate its ink values and automatically send that information to the press. This automation eliminates the manual estimation of ink zone coverage. The 32 500 circulation Ogden Newspaper is slated for a May installation.
Light & Champion purchased NewsXtreme LITE through the CTP Alliance with Southern Lithoplate. Along with the imposition and product planner Light & Champion will gain efficiencies with the ability to soft proof pages and plates as they move to CTP. Light & Champion will also take advantage of Presteligence’s PDF toolkit for preflighting. The application identifies and auto-corrects common problems that the publisher experiences. Dale Buie General Manager immediately saw the simplicity and power of NewsXtreme and noted that it looked like it was the easiest to use compared to other vendor applications. Light & Champion prints 50 daily and weekly publications with 3 different web sizes and multiple paper stocks. They purchased 1 Screen PlateRite News 2000 from Southern Lithoplate and will continue to use their ECRM film imagesetter as a backup.
