Newsrooms in Florida Georgia and Mississippi to go live
with centralized deployment of SAXOTECH’s Mediaware Center™

TAMPA Fla. – June 9 2008 – Four McClatchy newsrooms spanning three states in the southeast U.S. will soon take a major step forward in the era of 24-hour news publishing. In a move to leverage technology advancements for group publishing McClatchy has signed a contract with SAXOTECH to deploy a Central Channel Agnostic Content management and Production system to serve 265 users at The Bradenton Herald (Bradenton Fla.) The Telegraph (Macon Ga.) Ledger-Enquirer (Columbus Ga.) and The Sun-Herald (Gulfport Miss.). The implementation will start immediately with an expected go live late 2008.

The shift from independent editorial content systems to a single distributed architecture will provide these four news organizations with a common technology platform to still independently plan create edit and publish content for its distinct print products. Content from the centralized Mediaware Center deployment – to be based in Charlotte N.C. – will flow to McClatchy Interactive-managed digital media properties.

Terry Geiger director of corporate IT said “We are very excited about the opportunity that the Mediaware Center system will provide us to share resources and assets within these newspapers. Throughout the entire preparation process the SAXOTECH team has shown us their commitment to aiding our company in the development of a new approach to newspaper publishing.”

The solution will have enhanced workflows for channel-agnostic content production and page production. The SAXOTECH Mediaware Center will enable content sharing possibilities between papers and Adobe InCopy and InDesign CS3 will be deployed as part of this solution.

“McClatchy is leading the way in the North American market with their regional approach to content and workflow management systems ” said Anders Christiansen president and CEO of SAXOTECH. “We are pleased to have this opportunity help provide a means for comprehensive news coverage within the southeast region.”
