The Dominion Post part of the Fairfax group printing in New Zealand’s capital Wellington has undertaken a substantial press controls upgrade with Harland Simon. The project has seen the UK based supplier completely overhaul the control system that they originally supplied to Dominion Post in the late 1980’s. The new system has three Prima 6000 control desks a Prima MS press management system and Harland Simon’s presetting and content proofing systems and has been in production since December 2007. The recently completed final phase of the project has seen Harland Simon working with Goss International to integrate a new Uniliner tower with the existing T70/HT70 pressline. Now that the upgrade is in place Dominion Post are confident that they will have extended the useful life of their press by many years at a fraction of the price that it would have cost to replace it.

Paul Elenio General Manager – Central Region for Fairfax said “Harland Simon has done extremely well throughout both stages of this installation. Communication has been a key. The technical side of their installation involved a major revamp of our press control system and their staff has been very accommodating.”

Rob Watson Sales Director at Harland Simon said “This project really does emphasise the commitment that we have put into supporting our customers over the years. Twenty years on and on the other side of the world we are still able to offer them the equipment and the expertise that they need to enhance their production. How many other suppliers could say that within this industry?”
