Judging by the growth in companies like Godaddy Wix and Web.com I d say there s big business to be had here. And judging by preliminary results of a massive SMB survey underway I d say hold onto your hats. More than half (55%) of those surveyed thus far said they are planning "major changes" to their websites this year. Most will spend between $1 000 and $3 000 to do so but 14% will spend more than $10 000. My biggest concern is that whoever holds that basic customer relationship will wind up managing a good piece of the marketing budget as well. Because SMBs believe their website is a primary driver of new business (second only to customer referrals) anyone managing their website also has their ear on marketing.
