Bismarck Tribune Purchases MEI s Innovative Ads Solution

April 9, 2008

Jenkintown PA (April 3 2008) – Managing Editor Inc. (MEI) an Adobe premier development partner and leading provider of software for the publishing industry today announced that North Dakota’s Bismarck Tribune has purchased the Innovative Ads® module for Page Director® Ad Layout System (ALS).

The Tribune is the latest newspaper to license the groundbreaking module which manages complex polygonal and multi-layer ads within ALS. Advertising Sales Manager Kristin Wilson said the paper has been selling and manually laying out such ads for some time but it is exciting to have a solution that will automate the process.

“Everybody’s looking to create something different and fresh ” Wilson said. “It’s great to be able to sell any type of ad and to allow our advertisers to reach their audiences in such interesting ways. Any tool that makes it easier to put it all together helps us bring in more revenue.”

Established in 1873 the Bismarck Tribune is a long-running daily publication that calls itself “the official newspaper of the state of North Dakota county of Burleigh and city of Bismarck.” Along with the Innovative Ads module the paper purchased upgrades for ALS and FiFi XT MEI’s Find File Links tool for QuarkXPress.

“This technology gives newspapers a chance to rethink their ideas about page layout and what catches a reader’s eye ” said Steven Haught vice president of sales for MEI. “The Tribune is a perfect example of a creative company investing in new ways to get its message out there and keep its audience interested.”

The Innovative Ads module augments the automation capabilities of MEI’s industry-standard ad layout program by introducing support for uniquely shaped ads that can even have multiple layers — powerful eye-catching ads that more and more advertisers are demanding. Instead of requiring manual intervention and guesswork when working with these irregular items the Innovative Ads module enables users to quickly and easily incorporate them into the ALS runsheet and workflow.

By completely automating its entire ad layout process the Tribune can expect to benefit from improved efficiency and speed while planning its pages without limitations on what it can offer its advertisers.

“The Tribune is defining itself as a leader in the industry by embracing automation tools to handle Innovative Ads ” Haught said. “They recognize the opportunity to revitalize their print product with software that will better serve advertisers and target readers.”

The Innovative Ads module is just one of the practical and powerful software solutions that MEI will be highlighting at NEXPO Capital Conference ’08 April 12-15 in Washington D.C. Representatives will be available for demos and discussions in Booth 2532. To schedule a demonstration contact Steven Haught at shaught@maned.com or visit MEI on the Web at http://www.maned.com.
