Announcing the SNA 2009 Local Community Web Site Contest Winners

Judges for the SNA Local Community Web Site Contest were faced with very challenging decisions this year. This competitive contest represents the top Web initiatives from community and suburban newspapers across North America. We re extremely proud of all the Web sites that entered the contest and the amazingly hard work and innovation that goes into creating a winning site.

And the Winners Are…

Web Site of the Year
Web Site of the Year applies to any site produced by a local newspaper. Winners in this category provide overall excellence including design ease of navigation content reader interactivity innovation and advertising.

First place honors for this category divided into 4 classes were awarded to:

CLASS A — sites produced by daily newspapers with a total circulation over 40 000
Sioux City Journal / Lee Enterprises Inc.

CLASS B — sites produced by daily newspapers with a total circulation of 40 000 or under

Innovator of the Year
Innovator of the Year (all circulation classes combined) recognizes an individual or individuals who greatly improved their company s Web site through innovation risk-taking use of new technology and effective marketing.
